Robbed During Quarantine

Crazy times call for crazy stories, and mine is more about the heartbreak of losing something that has no monetary replacement.

It’s COVID year, and all of us have struggled with something traumatizing during our time being quarantined. Let me tell you what happened to me; I lost one of the most valuable possessions someone has given me, it almost makes me want to cry all over again thinking about it! 😭

My grandmother was/is/and will be one of the most influential people in my life. She was the inspiration behind my push to embrace my latin roots and pursue Spanish radio work. Sadly, she passed away before I made my “big“ breakthrough in Washington, D.C. 🥺💔

During her last visit to the U.S. she gave me a handmade leather wallet that was customized with my name 😍 The wallet wasn’t expensive by any means, she had it made by a local craftsman in her little town in El Salvador and cost her approximately $10-$15. That’s been my most favorite and treasured wallet ever since, and it would remind me of her daily.

A few days ago, I went to my family’s house and returned late night. Without thinking, I got out of my car, and FORGOT to lock one of the doors 🤦🏻‍♀️ As you can imagine, especially during a pandemic, someone took advantage of the opportunity, went through my car, and ta-da.... they found my wallet.

The next morning, I woke up to calls from my bank of them shutting down all my accounts as they spotted fraudulent activity. I was robbed overnight! I had to deal with my property for security surveillance, and the rest of the headache that comes with having your identity compromised 😩

What broke my heart was that I would never be able to find my grandma’s special wallet 💔There’s no amount that can equate sentimental value. Usually, I’m extremely private with things like this, but my sadness couldn’t be hidden.

After commenting it with a friend, I got a special packaged delivered. To lift up my spirits, this person sent me a the most beautiful wallet, I’ve ever laid eyes on 😭😍 My heart is filled with gratitude to know wonderful people surround my life and genuinely care in seeing me happy.

Although it isn’t abuela’s wallet, it’s a gift I’ll treasure for years to come 💞 Mi corazón está lleno de agradecimiento por este gran detalle 💖🙏🏼💞
